About the song: Originally written in 2002 during a heavy “Jimmy Buffett” phase, this has been a favourite in my family ever since. It got a freshen-up in 2006 whereby I updated some of the lyrics to reflect the true message I was looking for. Not meant so much as a place, “Orlando” is a metaphor in this song. Remember: you catch more flies with sugar. A little sun would help everyone.

Lyrics:

I don’t ever want to run from reason but I think my soul could use a change of season
So what if I could wish upon a way for you
To wake up in a dream and live it too

Cause you will not live forever, we never should say never It holds you down, it holds you down
You can be realistic, and still be optimistic
And a little sun would help everyone

I wish I was in Orlando
I’d drive on down to Miami then up to Boca Raton
I wanna be with the palm trees
Cool myself with the sea breeze instead of the snow

Some will tell you life’s a bitter pill and that it keeps on getting worse and always will
But I never could believe that was the way
I always kinda’ figured that we’d be okay

No I never will stop hopin’, I know my heart can open up a better way for another day
That don’t mean I’m unhappy with what I have already
But a little sun would help everyone

I wish I was in Orlando
I’d drive on down to Miami then up to Boca Raton
I wanna be with the palm trees
Cool myself with the sea breeze instead of the snow

I never want to sound unsatisfied Cause I’ve learned from every single little thing I’ve tried
And I don’t think that there could be any other way
Except for wishing up upon another sunny day

You’re baiting your contentment, running from your resentment
It’s a starting gate to what your dreams create
One light leads to another, one hope reflects the other
And a little sun would help everyone

I wish I was in Orlando
I’d drive on down to Miami then up to Boca Raton
I wanna be with the palm trees
Cool myself with the sea breeze instead of the snow
