Podcast about choosing to live with keynote speaker and life coach, Rakesh Mishra.
Are you choosing to live? What does that mean, anyway?
Consider the choices you’re making for yourself and how are you allowing your current circumstances to affect those choices. What do you believe is possible for the future?
Today, you are going to enjoy listening to a story that very well could be made into a movie at some point. This tale is going to take you to a variety of different lands, environments, challenges and choices that have delivered all kinds of valuable life lessons along the way.

This week, we are joined by Rakesh Mishra, an international speaker, life coach and expert on mindset.
On his website, Rakesh describes himself as, “An Indian village boy who made millions in Canada.” Today, you’re going to hear how he did that, going from growing up in a village with no electricity, television or automobiles to another part of the world entirely, and all of the remarkable – and sometimes absolutely soul-crushing – challenges he has met along the way. Over and over, he’s kept choosing to live. And he continues to redefine what “living” really means to him. As you’ll find out, he’s never satisfied unless he’s growing and challenging himself in some way.
This is truly a remarkable story from a remarkable person.
Some of the key takeaways from my time with Rakesh include:
- The story of the coins, and the value in recognizing what he did NOT find – Listen for the amazing, life-changing lesson in mindset he learned at just 7 years old!
- Stretch – You will hear Rakesh use the term “stretch” several times in this conversation. What he’s talking about his pushing himself past his comfort zone, and as you’ll notice, there never is a point in which he feels he’s “arrived” and no longer needs to stretch. In particular, listen for the story about going to the city – an enormous stretch for him – and how, when he arrived, he realized he would need to stretch himself yet again.
- Reverse engineering (choice, intention) works – While the real joy is in the journey, in order to get to any new destination, you first need to choose where it is you wish to go. Otherwise, life will choose for you. Now, I have been in the audience when Rakesh has told his story about deciding, at the age of 35, that he would need to amass $2.5 millions within 10 years. People laugh at that moment. It’s not a vicious, critical laugh. It’s an uncomfortable, “You must be kidding” laugh, as if people are saying, “Yeah, right.” Well, as you will hear Rakesh discuss, when you choose your destination, only THEN do you start attracting the “how to do it” as you go, and rarely the other way around.
As with all things, it comes down to getting back to where we started: it’s a choice. And as Rakesh likes to say, “As long as you are breathing, it’s not done yet.”
You are going to love this story!
