Podcast interview about kindness with Cindy Brett
It’s cool to be kind. Compassion, community and caring are all pretty cool too.
But is it cool to be kind in business?
Can a for-profit business be built and thrive on kindness and compassion? Cindy Brett, a dynamic woman who has spearheaded a movement called “Kindnessology,” is interested to find out.

Cindy Brett is a life success consultant who has studied about the mind and the creative process throughout her career. She has learned there are exact laws in place which, if implemented, create unrivaled serenity and harmony throughout our lives. Cindy feels that it is her purpose to more deeply understand how it is that we create our own lives and how we can inspire others to do the same.
She’s Studied The Greats
Cindy has studied with many great authors and teachers over the last dozen years, including Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Byron Katie, Carolyn Myss, Zig Ziglar, Mark Victor Hansen, Les Brown, Michael Losier, and Gary Zukav. She has been personally mentored and coached by Bob Proctor, Losier, and Paul Hutsey. Our common interest and attraction to Proctor became an interesting point for discussion.
As I’ve said before, each and every one of the conversations in which I am privileged to participate through this podcast is unique. But even amidst that context, there are some that simply stand out as going somewhere completely unto themselves. In other words, many of the conversations follow a typical kind of cause and effect cadence of me asking questions, listening with great curiosity and interest in the answers and then continuing that process over and over until the hour is up. But every once in a while, a discussion takes on a life of its own and I’m pretty sure that’s what happened with Cindy. That’s certainly how it felt while it was happening and it was a wonderful thing to be a part of.
Highlights from the talk with Cindy:
1. The privilege of awareness – I had yet to hear anyone describe awareness in quite this way, using the word “privilege.” It felt completely appropriate as soon as Cindy mentioned it. I am one who went without that privilege for so much of my life though it was always available to me. However the light goes on, it is a tremendous gift when it does, like seeing the world through black and white for so much of life and suddenly everything flips into color. Cindy’s right. It is a privilege.
2. Pain as an agent of change – I asked Cindy what precipitated her transformation and she quickly answered with one word: Pain. She said, “Pain got me looking into how I could change my life.” This is further evidence that every challenge is an opportunity, no matter how dark or suffocating. Pain can bring more pain, or can be the catalyst for change. That doesn’t make it easy, but it is a choice.
3. Stay with it – Cindy noted that what we focus on expands and I was probably turning a little bit red when she talked about how common it is for people who like to learn and grow to flit about from book to book to book and course to course to course, gobbling up information and forever searching for what they perceive to be the missing piece of their puzzle. Cindy suggests to take certain material and to stick with it. My immediate impression was that that was great advice, and something I know I can immediately apply.
Is It Cool To Be Kind?
We did eventually steer back around to Kindnessology but I think you’ll find this entire conversation completely enriching if you are in any way interested in mindset and manifestation.
What a gift it is to be connected with this woman! Here is the conversation with Cindy Brett:
