Podcast interview about kindness with Cindy Brett
It’s cool to be kind. Compassion, community and caring are all pretty cool too.
But is it cool to be kind in business?
Can a for-profit business be built and thrive on kindness and compassion? Cindy Brett, a dynamic woman who has spearheaded a movement called “Kindnessology,” is interested to find out.

Cindy Brett is a life success consultant who has studied about the mind and the creative process throughout her career. She has learned there are exact laws in place which, if implemented, create unrivaled serenity and harmony throughout our lives. Cindy feels that it is her purpose to more deeply understand how it is that we create our own lives and how we can inspire others to do the same.
She’s Studied The Greats
Cindy has studied with many great authors and teachers over the last dozen years, including Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Byron Katie, Carolyn Myss, Zig Ziglar, Mark Victor Hansen, Les Brown, Michael Losier, and Gary Zukav. She has been personally mentored and coached by Bob Proctor, Losier, and Paul Hutsey. Our common interest and attraction to Proctor became an interesting point for discussion.
As I’ve said before, each and every one of the conversations in which I am privileged to participate through this podcast is unique. But even amidst that context, there are some that simply stand out as going somewhere completely unto themselves. In other words, many of the conversations follow a typical kind of cause and effect cadence of me asking questions, listening with great curiosity and interest in the answers and then continuing that process over and over until the hour is up. But every once in a while, a discussion takes on a life of its own and I’m pretty sure that’s what happened with Cindy. That’s certainly how it felt while it was happening and it was a wonderful thing to be a part of.
Highlights from the talk with Cindy:
1. The privilege of awareness – I had yet to hear anyone describe awareness in quite this way, using the word “privilege.” It felt completely appropriate as soon as Cindy mentioned it. I am one who went without that privilege for so much of my life though it was always available to me. However the light goes on, it is a tremendous gift when it does, like seeing the world through black and white for so much of life and suddenly everything flips into color. Cindy’s right. It is a privilege.
2. Pain as an agent of change – I asked Cindy what precipitated her transformation and she quickly answered with one word: Pain. She said, “Pain got me looking into how I could change my life.” This is further evidence that every challenge is an opportunity, no matter how dark or suffocating. Pain can bring more pain, or can be the catalyst for change. That doesn’t make it easy, but it is a choice.
3. Stay with it – Cindy noted that what we focus on expands and I was probably turning a little bit red when she talked about how common it is for people who like to learn and grow to flit about from book to book to book and course to course to course, gobbling up information and forever searching for what they perceive to be the missing piece of their puzzle. Cindy suggests to take certain material and to stick with it. My immediate impression was that that was great advice, and something I know I can immediately apply.
Is It Cool To Be Kind?
We did eventually steer back around to Kindnessology but I think you’ll find this entire conversation completely enriching if you are in any way interested in mindset and manifestation.
What a gift it is to be connected with this woman! Here is the conversation with Cindy Brett:

The kindnessology and the made me think of paying it forward. Do it, others will see it and do it as well.
Well said, Eric. Thanks for visiting and sharing those thoughts.

Hi Kevin,
A very interesting article indeed. I’ve never heard of “kindnessology” this is new to me. It seems rather intriguing, is it something like the law of attraction? Where you attract what you put out? A really interesting topic. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Tom,
Law of Attraction definitely came up in our discussion, so that’s part of it. I agree, it’s really interesting. I was fascinated by the discussion with Cindy.
Best wishes!
Kevin
What a great site and wonderful post. I’ve also told my wife about this site who is an “Esther Hick” Law of Attraction subscriber and she was fascinated to learn more about Cindy, as she’d not come across her before now. So thanks Kevin for sharing. We’ll also be subscribing to your podcast too. Great post, lovely site. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Sean,
Thanks for the visit and for your kind words. If your wife likes Esther Hick I’m guessing she’ll enjoy this conversation with Cindy, and several other archived episodes besides. I hope so!
Many thanks & best wishes,
Kevin
Hi Kevin,
I haven’t heard of kindnessology before but I certainly do practice it. I believe that to ‘expect’ kindness you have to share your kindness. It’s only common sense.
If you are mean to someone will they not be mean to you? Well I suppose that would be the case for most people.
I don’t necessarily be kind to other people to get rewarded though. I do it because I am kind person underneath and I like to share that kindness.
Thanks Owain! I always appreciate your input!
Best wishes,
Kevin
Wow, what an amazing website Kevin!
Everything you said in the Podcast totally resonated with me. The privilege of awareness reminds me of a book I just finished reading, “The Power of Now” by Eckart Tolle. And one of my mantras is that every challenge is an opportunity.
Cindy’s point that nothing is happening TO us. Everything is happening FOR us gives a completely different perspective on life. If you consider that the universe is lovingly putting everything in our path for our growth. It’s really a big universal act of kindness and unconditional love. This perspective really helps to take on a life of gratitude and appreciation.
Isn’t Bob Proctor from the Secret?
Thanks for sharing.
Hi Kevon!
Thank you for your very kind words. I’m glad to hear you have a positive impression of the site and thank you for saying so. It’s a work very much in progress 🙂
Yes, Bob Proctor was in “The Secret.” That’s where I first learned of him. I’ve become an enthusiastic student of his over the last couple of years and was thrilled to find that Cindy has been mentored by Bob personally.
“Power of Now” is on my reading list. I’ll get to it at some point!
Best wishes,
Kevin
